what we're up to:
Promoting Cultural Awareness and Understanding
At Seekhaven, we are dedicated to fostering cultural awareness and understanding within our community and organizational structures. Our Indigenous Community Coordinator (ICC) is committed to deepening knowledge of indigenous cultures, with a particular focus on the rich heritage of the region.
As part of the commitment to cultural education, our ICC has actively collaborated with the Utah Coalition Against Sexual Assault (UCASA) to implement statewide training initiatives that address the unique challenges faced by indigenous communities. These sessions not only enhance awareness but also equip participants with the tools to engage respectfully and effectively within diverse cultural contexts. Additionally, we are proud to focus on critical issues such as Missing and Murdered Indigenous Relatives (MMIR), Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women (MMIW) and more. Our training includes vital discussions and insights into these ongoing crises, aiming to promote advocacy, support, and understanding. Join us in our mission to build a more inclusive and informed organizational environment that honors and respects indigenous cultures. Together, we can create a space for dialogue, learning, and meaningful change. |

RESPONDING TO HOSTILE BEHAVIORS
"Responding to hostile behaviors requires a community effort and strong leadership to send a clear message that these types of behaviors are not acceptable. Here you will find strategies to address incidents when they happen through bystander intervention as well as resources for changing the culture so that these behaviors do not continue to be tolerated. A broad response is necessary for long-lasting change and this should start with supporting the people being targeted by harassers. Experiencing harassment, bullying and discrimination can result in physical, emotional and mental duress. At the end of this page we list types of wellness support resources you should expect to have access to,
